Wolborg 03 (Uriel) - "Uriel"
AKA: Wolborg 3 (Hasbro), Wolborg 03, Uriel, Ariel (mistranslation based on stickers) or any combination of Wolborg 03/Wolborg 3 and (Ariel)/(Uriel).
This page refers to the Gold version of the Beyblade, generally referred to as Uriel by fans (though both it and "Wolborg 03" share the same name from Takara), which includes a South Magnecore as opposed to the Metal Weight Core of "Wolborg 03"
Generally, the gold colour is referred to by fans as Uriel, and the Black as Wolborg 03/Wolborg 3, however both versions share the same product name from Takara, per the title of this page.
The Gold version of this Beyblade suffers from some degree of Gold Plastic Syndrome. While not as severe as Uriel 2 (they have slightly different plastic composition), care should still be taken with usage and those worried about breaks are advised to avoid usage.
Note: The Gold version of this part suffers from some degree of Gold Plastic Syndrome, causing it to be fragile. While not as severe as Uriel 2, care should still be taken with usage and those worried about breaks are advised to avoid usage.
Weight: 4.3g
Four-winged AR with rounded heads leading in Left Spin and protrusions at wing tips leading in Right Spin
Well balanced, but the wing tips protruding past Weight Disks tends to reduce usefulness.
Right Spin:
Competent Smash Attack in this direction with limited recoil, however the range is not sufficient and the contact points lack enough focus for it to be a top-tier contender.
Shape makes the AR too high-recoil for Defense or Stamina in this direction.
An excellent choice for RC Super Flat Base (and RC Bases in general) should RC Bases become legal, with the wing tips obstructing the recoily protrusions on the fake Weight Disk and providing some smash to KO Survival types, while still providing great balance and relatively low recoil to allow outspins against popular combinations.
Left Spin:
Smooth shape of the heads provide lower recoil, however the bumps at the trailing edges disrupt this, adding noticeable recoil and limiting overall efficacy.
As a result, it is competent but not exceptional as a Zombie AR in this direction, with the recoil making it less useful than alternatives such as Tiger Defenser, Scissor Attacker and Twin Horn.
Nonetheless, a solid Tier 2 choice for Zombies.
Weight: 15.0g
Lighter than Heavy and Eight Heavy while having a similarly compact weight distribution
Weight distribution implies defensive use, but the recoil from the contact points and the relatively middling weight means it doesn't work well here - even Heavy Attack is a better choice on set-ups that can reduce the recoil.
Not a useful part.
Spin Gear: Neo Right Spin Gear (South Magne Version)
Weight: 1.15g ea (total 2.3g)
Generally preferred to regular Right shells due to being compatible with all SG-Compatible bases, in particular for being compatible with Neo SG Cores and the Heavy Metal Core.
This means they are a necessity for Compacts, Weight Based Defense, Force Smash, Traditional Upper Attack and Driger V2 Combinations, at least aside from the rare occasions Left Spin is desired for one of these types, in which case Neo Left Shells are preferred.
Overall a crucial competitive part, but thankfully exceedingly common.
Note: When used in an SG, any Magnecore is listed as "Magne Version" with no specification of the polarity or variety. These are listed in PlasticsDB part section names for clarity.
Weight: 3.3g
Only compatible with Neo Right Spin Gear Shells and Neo Left Spin Gear Shells.
Main attribute is its specific weight, resulting in a distribution not as centrally-focused as a Heavy Metal Core, yet with enough weight to help a little with recoil, Magnecores tend to be a decent choice if trying to control recoil on Attack types which care about stamina such as those using SG Metal Flat Base (Gaia Dragoon V Version). They usually tend to be a slightly better balance here than Metal Weight Core as the extra weight does not cause losses against any notable opponents but does provide slightly better rotational recoil control, while providing better stamina and faster movement than a Heavy Metal Core.
Only noticeable effect of the magnetic gimmick for regular play is when using a magnetized tip (Customize Grip Base Tip, Magne Flat Base Tip), which are attracted to South Magnecores, or Magne Weight Disk (which can be flipped over as needed anyway), and even here the effect on performance is negligible - the only actual impact is in terms of assembly difficulty.
Defensively, and for rotational recoil control, it is outclassed by the significantly heavier Heavy Metal Core, however it is the next best thing, and still works okay for Defense/Compacts, albeit not nearly as well as an HMC due to the significant difference in weight. It has some use on Driger V2 combos for certain outspins, but generally an HMC is superior, and always preferred when using Wide Defense.
In Magne Stadia, South Magnecores are intended to be offensive (by being repelled by magnets, thus moving around erratically).
Note: The Gold version of this part suffers from some degree of Gold Plastic Syndrome, causing it to be fragile. While not as severe as Uriel 2, care should still be taken with usage and those worried about breaks are advised to avoid usage.
Weight: 4.9g
Right-Spin mirror of Magne Flat Base.
Has a removable tip and can house a range of Shafts and Tips, though the only useful ones are Customize Grip Base Tip and SG Grip Change Base Tip (using SG (Bearing Version 2) Casings), with SG Grip Base Tip also being a viable option.
Similar to a lighter Customize Grip Base, but with no SP support- instead it has four wings which add some smash attack in Right but mostly cause recoil issues (significantly so in Left).
Only useful for Attack types due to this - while it can fit various Defensive and Survival shafts it has poor LAD and recoil issues making it a poor choice for these.
There are better choices for SG Grip Change Base's tip in SG (Bearing Version 2)'s Casings - Defense Grip Base 2, Customize Bearing Base and, on fresh tips, Customize Grip Base, but SG Grip Base is still a competitive choice.
Main use where it isn't outclassed is using Customize Grip Base Tip with Dranzer V's unique Magnecore, allowing the use of the tip at lower heights (see Dranzer V for more information). With other SG's it is generally just a poorer version of Customize Grip Base.
Nonetheless, it remains a competitive part as most of the downsides aren't important for attack-oriented Beyblades.
Weight: 2.74g
Relatively hard rubber tip (similar consistency to Customize Grip Base Tip) with a non-magnetic metal centre and pole extending into the SG, intended to be magnetised by the SG
While the tip is slightly narrower, overall performance in both aggression and stamina is similar to Customize Grip Base Tip and therefore they may be used interchangeably.
Much like Customize Grip Base Tip, the recoil control is lower than SG Grip Change Base Tip and Defense Grip Base, resulting in a harder time with higher recoil Attack Rings, however it is still usable.
Stamina allows it to outspin Grip Defense, and the height in Customize Grip Base allows certain ARs to be used to OS certain Circle Survivor Defense Combos.
Notably, this makes it an excellent choice for Force Smash combinations - perhaps the best due to it's ~0.9g weight advantage over Customize Grip Base Tip, which with Customize Grip Base and Defense Ring results in a BB setup just shy of the weight of a fully-loaded SG Metal Ball Base.
Only tip other than Volcano Change Base Tip to be compatible with Volcano Change Base. While this is niche (and the legality still unclear), it does allow the use of the Tip with Dranzer V's unique Magnecore without an aggressively designed Base. resulting in a lower overall height than Customize Grip Base. This works well with powerful but lower recoil Smash Attack ARs such as Mountain Hammer.
Overall a competitive Attack Tip though it is worth noting that it is best used in Customize Grip Base which already comes with a generally equally effective Tip.
Overall
Wolborg 03 (Uriel) has a range of decent parts, including an excellent tip, but for the most part there are better alternatives, or alternatives that come with parts needed to use them in the case of the tip. As such, it is best left for collection purposes. The gold version, while it comes with a more useful SG Core, is more fragile than the black version, thus best avoided (though it is also significantly more common).
